距離2013年8月9日，那場亞錦賽擊退中國男籃的感動戰役不過兩個月左右的時間，中華男籃14日在天津東亞運的金牌戰中，再度發揮驚人的逆轉氣勢，順利以82比79贏球。總教練許晉哲更是「破天荒」領軍取得對中國國家隊的2連勝，這支中華男籃可說締造了傳奇的新頁。

此次「末代」東亞運，中華男籃選擇以亞錦賽主力班底出征，包括總教練許晉哲，主力林志傑、戴維斯、曾文鼎、田壘等人都再度披掛上陣，目標就是搶下本屆賽事的男籃金牌。

從預賽一路擊退南韓、關島、蒙古，以預賽分組第1之姿晉級4強後，中華隊昨(13日)先是以大比分順利擊退日本男籃，今天又在冠軍戰克服落後13分的頹勢，順利擊退中國，以5連勝之姿順利奪下金牌，這也是中華男籃史上繼1997、2005年後，順利取得史上第3面金牌。

總教練許晉哲也成為史上首位2連勝，而且是3個月內兩度連勝中國男籃的總教練，這支中華隊也繼本屆馬尼拉亞錦賽後，再度締造傳奇新頁。

中華男籃預計明日返抵國門，拿下東亞運金牌後，每位成員將可獲得台幣30萬元國光獎金。
