由於Tomas Berdych四強戰打到一半因傷退賽，西班牙「蠻牛」Rafael Nadal輕鬆晉級到決賽，也讓他得以在下週重返世界第一的席次。

這是Nadal繼2011年6月之後，重新返回球王寶座，他與Berdych在準決賽第一盤打完第6局後，對方申請醫療暫停，但仍狀況不佳決定退賽。

Nadal曾經於2005年在中國公開賽稱王，這是他睽違8年後再度打進決賽，本賽季已經是第13次打進決賽，這當中僅失手2次。

闖進決賽後，Nadal有可能遭遇老對手Novak Djokovic，尋求衛冕的塞爾維亞好手，曾三度在中國賽奪冠，他將與Richard Gasquet爭奪決賽門票。
