新任NBA球員工會主席Chris Paul極力爭取放寬禁藥檢測規定，但就是有人要扯後腿。

根據《紐約每日新聞》透露，紐約尼克「神經射手」J.R. Smith因違反聯盟禁藥規定，新球季還沒開打就先吞下5場禁賽處分。

在增強體能的藥物檢測方面，Smith順利過關，但檢體中卻出現大麻反應。

由於Smith日前接受手術，2013-14年球季季初可能無法上場，聯盟將等到他確定可以出賽時再執行禁賽處分。

Smith是2012-13年球季「年度最佳第六人」，平均每場攻下18.1分、5.3籃板、1.9記三分球。
