喬柯維奇vs.莫瑞，這個頂尖對戰組合在今年的4場四大賽男單決賽出現高達3次。隨著昨日球王喬帥於16強6-3、6-0、6-0橫掃西班牙對手葛拉諾里斯，衛冕冠軍莫瑞6-7(5)、6-1、6-4、6-4苦勝烏茲別克傭兵伊斯托明，兩人距美網4強「提前」交手，各只差1勝。

喬帥全場只花79分鐘，連拿最後15局，他自己都說：「過去我也有類似的好比賽，但無疑的，這是我在艾許球場最棒的一戰。」

第3種子莫瑞則是先掉了首盤後脫困，闖進8強累積美網11連勝。他說：「對手一開始的攻擊又平又準，兩對角打得又好。直到第3盤結束，我才感覺到有機會拿下比賽。」

喬帥的8強對手是俄羅斯21種子尤茲尼，雙方過去交手過8場，喬帥5勝3敗佔上風；莫瑞將對壘常會一起練球的瑞士第9種子瓦林卡，他在過去交手8勝5敗略佔優勢。
