溫網冠軍Andy Murray在蒙特婁遭遇挫敗，面對Ernests Gulbis，以4-6、3-6被橫掃出局，無緣叩關八強。

名列大會二號種子，Murray曾是兩屆羅傑斯盃冠軍，這回在蒙特婁栽在 Gulbis手上，中斷了自溫網開始的13連勝紀錄。

「我看著大會看板上所顯示的，我輸給他有5次了。」 Gulbis說，其實他只記得之前最後一次與Murray在辛辛那提的交手，「那是一場艱難的比賽，但那已經是2010年的事情。」

Gulbis表示：「我與當時已經是不同一個人，而他也是完全不同的選手。」

落敗的Murray表示，球場環境很糟、風很大，對手又打得信心十足，「他昨天贏了一場漂亮的比賽，我也想通過這場比賽的考驗，一直到最後我都在努力著。」

西班牙「蠻牛」Rafael Nadal也遇到一些麻煩，不過仍順利晉級，他以7-6、6-4淘汰波蘭的Jerzy Janowicz。

大會第一種子Novak Djokovic也在先丟一盤的情形下，以2-6、6-4、6-4拍落烏茲別克選手Denis Istomin。
