兩度被釋出 瓦維德動向不明

35歲的瓦維德(Jose Valverde)過去3年曾是底特律老虎最重要的「終結者」，去年季末卻遭到釋出，4月以小聯盟約重返「老東家」，但不到一年，老虎又決定要送走這位「守護神」。

瓦維德去年季後賽崩盤，不僅老虎不與他續約，球季開打後也依舊乏人問津，直到4月5日才以小聯盟約重返「老東家」，隨後他在1A出賽了3場表現穩定，也為自己換來一紙大聯盟合約。

接著瓦維德在老虎出賽20場，19.1局中被敲出18支安打，其中6支是全壘打，失掉12分；最後一次在大聯盟出賽是台灣時間6月20日，1局內丟掉4分，防禦率也從3.93飆升到5.59。

瓦維德4月回鍋老虎時，合約中有一項選擇條款，內容是如果沒能在30天內升上大聯盟，球團可以決定將他釋出；事實上老虎在瓦維德這次下3A調整後，已經又多等了他10天，直到8日賽前，雙方才協議解除賓主關係。

老虎總教頭李蘭(Jim Leyland)在得知消息後表示，「我會記住過去與瓦維德所留下的美好回憶。」他感謝這位子弟兵曾經為球隊做出的貢獻，「我不清楚他接下來的計畫，不過我們絕對會祝福他。瓦維德是很棒的終結者，也是很棒的隊友。」
